The Migration Show – 7 June 2018 – RMAs React to LCA Proposals, LCA Now Claims Drafting Error

This episode of the Migration Show with Mark Northam and Monica Gruszka is all about how RMAs are responding to the Law Council of Australia’s shocking recommendations to the current government inquiry on the  migration advice industry which would severely impact the RMA profession.

A special late breaking news commentary appears at the beginning of the podcast about how per news reports from industry organisations, the LCA is now apparently claiming that there was a “drafting error” in the submission and that the LCA only intended to exclude RMAs from representing clients at the General Division of the AAT which handles some character and cancellation cases, but did not intend to exclude RMAs from representing clients in Migration and Refugee Division cases.

In this episode we feature 8 hard-hitting emails from RMA listeners, many of whom gave permission for their name to be aired, that strike back at the LCA proposals regarding RMAs being restricted from AAT work, citizenship applications, being specialists/experts, supervision and much more.

We also feature special guest Liana Allan, founder of The Migration Alliance who talks about her successful efforts on behalf of all RMAs to get an extension to the time limit for providing submissions to the government enquiry. Email address for these are
